OPUS VL
CASE STUDY
Challenge
Replace paper forms in NHS workflows with a digital tool for use on a tablet, by medical professionals, to increase accuracy, reduce workload and errors.
Approach
UXCENTRIC collaborated on a DITO open source project with OpusVL and others to transform NHS care by enabling more effective and lower-cost digital systems to better support clinical care.
We used research conducted by Coventry University to design an app to input medical information, which aligned with NEWS2 guidance.
The aspiration was to create an experience that would be familiar and intuitive, and allow those medical professionals to work quickly, effectively and accurately.

After reviewing the wireframes with stakeholders, remote usability testing was then carried during COVID-19 to finesse the design.

Impact
The new design enabled faster, safer data entry for clinicians and improved decision-making in an urgent care context.
Outcome
This strategy improved patient care and provided an enhanced experience for clinicians to work smartly & effectively.
Thereafter, collaborators came together to develop solutions in an open-source environment for COVID-19 to help the health service and improve patient care.
